| Your Owen County Community Foundation now administers 35 scholarship funds which have been set up by caring donors. Some wanted to honor and memorialize a family member or close friend. Others wished to honor a student’s dedication and commitment by making their educational path a little easier.
Each of these OCCF scholarships was started by different individuals or organizations, and consequently the eligibility and criteria are different for each scholarship. Only the Jefferson Township Coal City Alumni Scholarship is available to non-Owen County residents. All others require the recipients to live in Owen County.
Some scholarships require the recipient to pursue a four-year degree at a college or university. Others require the recipient to attend a trade or technical school. Several scholarships are available to the “non-traditional student” – the adult already in college or enrolling for the first time and students who were home schooled and preparing to start college.
The staff at your Community Foundation is available to answer questions, whether about applying for a scholarship or inquiring as to how to set up a new scholarship or grant fund. They are only a phone call away at 812– 829–1725.
