Grant Funds

 

Bob Babbs Community Fund.  
Established in 2002 by the Babbs family to honor Bob and to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Bonness Family Fund.  
Established in 2014 by Barbara Bonness to support charitable projects. 

Boston Scientific Child Care Fund.  
Established in 1997 by Boston Scientific Corp. in support of training of childcare teachers, acquisition of supplies, and related materials.

Cancer Support Fund of Owen County.  
Begun in 2007 as a special way to celebrate the short but full life of Zachary Tucker. Established by his grandparents, Gib and Phyllis Tucker, to provide immediate support to families of children undergoing treatment for cancer, in the form of gift cards for gasoline, lodging and meals.

Child Abuse Prevention Fund.  
Established in 2016 by Kassie Smithey to support programs that work to prevent child abuse in Owen County.

Cataract-Jennings Township Fund.  
Established in 2009 by Steve and Lynn Mader to support charitable projects in Cataract and Jennings Township.

Coal City-Jefferson Township Fund.  
Established in 2006 to support charitable projects in Coal City and Jefferson Township.

Community Fund.  
This is the main fund of the Community Foundation which makes grants to help make Owen County communities become better places to live, grow, and work.

Community Medical Fund.  
Established in 2000 to provide for the medical care and related services of the citizenry of Owen County.

DeCoursey Family Fund.  
Established in 1998 to provide annual grants to meet community needs. 

DMJ Community Fund.  
Established in 2003 by Don, Marilyn and Jennifer Jackson to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Doug Dalton Memorial Fund.  
Established in 2012 by Sharon Dalton to provide grants for charitable projects in Coal City and Jefferson Township.

Early Childhood Education Fund.  
Originally established in 2000 with a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to provide support for early childhood education programs within Owen County.

Economic Development Fund.  
Established in 1998 with the balance of monies left from the dissolution of the Washington/Clay Sewer Advisory Board, to promote economic development in Owen County.

 

 

 

 

Eugene S. Bowen and Robert D. Bowen Fund for Owen County.  
Established in 2014 by Paul and Dana Cummings to provide charitable support to Owen County.

Fire and Emergency Fund.  
Established in 1997 to provide grants for the area fire departments to purchase firefighting equipment.

Freedom-Franklin Township Fund.  

Established in 2009 by Susan Coulter for the purpose of supporting community projects in Freedom and Franklin Townships.

Freeman Charitable Food Fund.  
Established in 2006 through the estate of Joe Freeman, a life-long friend of Owen County, to provide food for the poor of Owen County.

Gosport Fund.  
Established in 1996 by Gosport residents to provide support to any charitable organization in Gosport, Wayne or Harrison Township.

Hackworthy Family Community Fund. 
Established in 2002 by John and Cindy Hackworthy to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Harry C. & D. Gladys Miller Fund.  Established in 2014 by Marilyn M. Morin & Carolyn M. Livingston to honor their parents and to provide charitable support to Owen County.

Harold & Lois Patterson Fund.  Established in 2014 by Ronald E. and Carol L. Dillingham to provide charitable support to Owen County.

 J. Welch Wampler Fund.  
Established in 1999 by the Wampler family to honor J. Welch Wampler and to help maintain the Ferry Bridge or support projects in the Gosport area.

Jack Simmerman Community Fund.  
Established in 2002 by the board of directors of OCCF to honor Jack’s contributions to the founding of the organization and to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

John T. Gillaspy Memorial Fund.  
Established in 2006 in memory of John T. Gillaspy by his family, and contributed to by his many friends, to provide for the general good of Owen County.

John King Fund for Owen County Fund.  
Established in 2016 in memory of John King by his family, and contributed to by his many friends, to provide for community grants in Owen County with a preference for Gosport, Wayne & Harrison Townships.

Law Enforcement Fund of Owen County.  Established in 2010 by the community to honor the Owen County Law enforcement professionals. The fund will provide grants to local law enforcement agencies to help with training and equipment expense.

 

 

 

MacMorran Family Fund
Established in 2002 by the MacMorran family to honor their parents and to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Nancy McKay & Richard Wayne Lorenz Family Fund.  
Established in 2014 to provide charitable support to Owen County.

Owen County Education Fund.  
Established in 1997 by local educators to provide teacher mini grants of $50-$250 each to enhance the classroom learning of SOCS students.

O’Connor Family Fund.  
Established in 2017 by Regan O’Connor for her Senior Patriot Expo Project to provide support to patients with Huntington Disease at the Summerfield Healthcare Center where personal funds are not available.  It may also support facility activities for Huntington Disease patients such as outings for meals, entertainment or facility party.  This fund is in honor of Regan’s father, Drew O’Connor.

Ooley Family Fund.  Established in 2015 by Sam and Gerri Ooley to provide charitable support to Owen County.

Paul and Ione Fulk Community Fund.  Established in 2002 through the estate of Ione Fulk to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Rogers-Pennington Fund.  
Established in 2002 by John R. and Elizabeth P. Rogers to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

SCI REMC Disability Fund.  
Started in 1997 with a grant from the SCI REMC RoundUp Fund to provide support for Owen County residents with special needs.

SCI REMC RoundUp Fund.  
Established in 2002 by a grant from the SCI REMC to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Scully Family Fund.  
Established in 2014 by Dave & Doris Scully to provide charitable support to Owen County.

Smithville Telephone Co., Inc. Community Fund.  
Established in 2002 by Smithville Telephone Co. to provide annual grants to meet community needs.

Tucker Family Fund.  Established by Gilmer & Phyllis Tucker in 2014 to provide charitable support to Owen County.

Wells Family Fund.  Established in 2002 by Diane and Gordon Wells to provide annual grants to meet community needs.
